Nipissing West OPP: two residents charged after stealing wallet

Nipissing West OPP says they have laid charges against two people after an overnight theft of a wallet from a car.

The complaint came through to police on April 1, and the arrests were made on Friday.

Officers say the wallet was stolen from a car that was parked on Arthur Street in West Nipissing, and a credit card was used to make purchases before it was cancelled.

Through the purchases made at stores, police say they were able to use store surveillance footage to identify the suspects.

A 19-year-old from West Nipissing has been charged with:

  • Fraud Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada

A 26-year-old from West Nipissing was charged with Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada.

Both have been released from custody and will appear before court in West Nipissing on July 2.
