The province continues to invest in film and TV production in the area. Four projects have received $3.5 million from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, says the investment will help create jobs, attract talent and increase the quality of film and television series produced in Nipissing.
“Our government will continue to invest in the film and television industry here in Nipissing to help drive the local economy,” says Fedeli. “Film and television productions like SkyMed help put Northern Ontario on the map and provide the opportunity to showcase our culture, geography and talent.”
Micheline Blais, President of Cast North, Producer of Aurora Christmas, is thanking NOFHC and Fedeli for the support in northern Ontario.
“It is through this support we can continue to grow the Industry and contribute to the economic development of our region,” says Blais. “It allows us to not only train but also retain the talent in Northern Ontario to assist in supporting the workforce of the continuously growing PanNorthern Film Community. It also allows us the opportunity to introduce new up and coming talent in our region who may not have realized there are career opportunities in Film and television.”
