Severe thunderstorm watch for the West Nipissing area (alert has ended)

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for our area by Environment Canada.

The weather agency says conditions are favourable this afternoon and early this evening for severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, nickel to Toonie-sized hail and heavy rain.

There’s also a risk of a tornado.

However, officials say strong wind gusts and large hail are the main threats.
