Andréane Chénier running for NDP in new riding

The New Democrats have selected their candidate for the next Federal election in the new Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt riding.

Andréane Chénier was nominated on Sunday.

The riding includes West Nipissing to the east, Manitoulin Island to the west and Mattagami to the north.

Sudbury is its own riding.

“I’ve been hearing from people how they’re working hard but still can’t pay the bills,” says Chénier. “New Democrats want to support Northern Ontarians by bringing down these sky-high costs. It would be an honour to fight for Northern Ontarians in Ottawa, as time and time again, both the Liberals and Conservatives leave them behind to help their CEO friends.”

The party says Chénier, who ran for the NDP in 2021 is a Franco-Ontarian who has dedicated her life to the labour movement as staff for a major public sector union.
