Two teens from southern Ontario are facing drug trafficking charges after police seized over $220,000 worth of suspected drugs.
North Bay OPP says on July 3, at approximately 9:15 p.m., officers observed a silver car travelling north on Highway 11 at about 94 km/h above the posted speed limit.
Police attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled.
A little while later, the same vehicle was located on the North Bay bypass. Working with city police, the OPP says officers stopped the dangerous driver and arrested them.
Afterwards, officials say police seized approximately 740 grams of suspected Fentanyl and approximately 22 grams of unidentified pills. The drugs have a total approximate street value of $223,000.
A 19-year-old from Pickering was charged with:
- Fail to stop for police
- Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
A 19-year-old from Scarborough was charged Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl.
The accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in bail court in North Bay.
