Rainfall warning and severe thunderstorm watch ended

Update: both the rainfall warning and severe thunderstorm watch for the area have ended.

 

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for our area and a severe thunderstorm watch. 

Along with thunderstorms developing Tuesday (Aug. 27) and tracking east, the agency says periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms will bring significant rainfall into Tuesday night. 

Total local rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm are possible, with higher local amounts.

Officials also say rainfall rates of 30 to 40 mm per hour are possible. 

Environment Canada says thunderstorms may be accompanied by wind gusts of 100 km/h and nickel sized hail.

There is also a risk of tornadoes.
