A few area communities are holding night time holiday parades this weekend.
West Nipissing’s Parade of Lights starts at 6:30 pm on Friday, Dec. 6.
Local organizations, businesses and community groups are parading through downtown Sturgeon Falls with Santa Claus, to ring in the festive season.
The parade starts on John Street by the West Nipissing Community and Recreation Centre, turns onto Michaud, then Ethel, onto King Street and then Queen Street, back to the centre.
In Mattawa, the volunteer firefighter’s Parade of Lights takes place at 6 pm on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The parade starts on 10th Street, turns onto Brydges, then First/Main and McConnell to the Mike Rodden Arena.
A host of activities are planned with free public skating, a Christmas market, and visits with Santa at the arena.
The Powassan Parade of Lights also takes place at 6 pm on Saturday.
Tractors, trucks, cars and horses will be lit up once again this year, bringing Santa through the town.
The parade travels along Main Street to Clarke, then onto Edward, to South Street and wraps up back on Main.
