The sounds of the mini-train and carousels at the North Bay waterfront have fallen silent.
Heritage Railway and Carousel Company treasurer Don Coutts says they’ve had to temporarily close the attractions.
“We have a couple of operational matters that we have to get resolved over the next couple weeks,” he says. “That’s why we’ve had to temporarily close and not be able to operate the train and carousels.”
When asked, Coutts says they can’t get into specifics about the operational matters at this time.
He also says it means the 30th anniversary celebration that was planned for Aug. 3 has been postponed.
“Once we know when we’re able to get back up and running we’ll send out a media release saying we’re up and running and here’s the new date for the 30th anniversary celebration,” he says. “We’re hoping and crossing our fingers it will be later on in August.”
Coutts adds other than the rainy days they’ve had good crowds this summer, with people from Sudbury, Toronto, and even South Carolina visiting the waterfront attractions.
