We have reached out to local candidates and asked them a series of questions that are on the mind of voters across the riding. Topics range from what they’re hearing at the door, positions on the trade war, cost of living pressures and more.
Here’s what they had to say, in their own words.

Tell us about yourself
I’m a lifelong Northern Ontarian, proud Métis, and Franco-Ontarian. Deeply rooted in the rural North, I’m passionate about representing the voices and priorities of our region in Ottawa. Since being elected in 2015, I’ve worked tirelessly to deliver meaningful results for families, seniors, and workers across the riding.
With a background in business, telecommunications, municipal politics, and the not-for-profit sector, I bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to federal leadership. I’ve championed key investments in seniors and youth, rural broadband, critical minerals, Indigenous reconciliation, infrastructure, and housing — always with Northern priorities front and centre.
I believe in the power of collaboration to build strong relationships that drive progress, grow our economy, create good jobs, and secure a prosperous future for our region.
What are you hearing when door-knocking?
Residents are deeply concerned about the impact of tariffs imposed by President Trump. Affordability, access to health care, housing, and good jobs — especially in rural and Indigenous communities — remain top priorities. Seniors want access to care closer to home, while young people are eager to build a future right here in the North.
There’s a strong sense of pride in our region. People want to see continued investment in our workers and natural resources. I’ve spoken directly with families and forestry workers about the importance of protecting local jobs and supporting sustainable industries.
Above all, people are asking for stable, experienced leadership — someone who listens, understands the unique needs of their communities, and delivers real results. I’ve heard that message loud and clear. As the incumbent candidate, I bring the experience, the energy, and the commitment to keep showing up and getting things done.
What would you do about cost of living pressures in your riding?
People are sharing their realities due to the rising costs living and the impact on families. That’s why I fought to deliver $10-a-day childcare, boost the Canada Child Benefit, national school food program and increase support for seniors. I’ve supported housing investments and expanded access to dental care and prescription drugs. My priority is putting more money back in people’s pockets. I’ll keep pushing for good-paying jobs, affordable housing, and rural infrastructure so families can thrive.
Why should someone vote for you?
For nearly a decade, I’ve delivered real, measurable results—securing federal investments in housing, health care, high-speed internet, infrastructure, youth programs, grassroots community organizations, and job creation initiatives that reflect the needs of our region.
I’m from this region. I’m bilingual. I understand both the challenges and the advantages of living in a rural riding like Sudbury East–Manitoulin–Nickel Belt. My experience—past and present—has given me a deep understanding of how government works and how to get things done.
I have an unwavering passion for public service. I prioritize building strong relationships by listening and learning—especially from residents and Indigenous communities—to ensure every voice is heard and respected.
I never stop advocating for our communities. I show up, I listen, and I act. While others talk, I deliver.
I’m asking for your vote to continue building a stronger, more inclusive future—together.
What is your position on tariffs and the trade war?
Tariffs and trade wars threaten the industries that drive our region, mining, forestry, and manufacturing. I’ve always stood up for Canadian jobs and supported fair trade policies that open markets while protecting local workers. I’ve worked with unions and businesses to push for federal action when U.S. tariffs hit, including faster EI access and innovation funding. We can’t afford weak leadership that “bends the knee” to foreign pressure. I support leaders like Mark Carney who defend Canadian sovereignty and won’t back down to bullies like Donald Trump.
What are potential solutions to housing affordability and homelessness?
Housing affordability and homelessness are top concerns across our region, and I believe we need bold, practical solutions that reflect the realities of Northern and rural communities. That’s why I’ve supported federal investments that are already making a difference, like the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF). Through HAF, the Government of Canada provided the Town of Espanola with $2 million to increase housing supply. But there is more to do, with zoning reform, faster permitting, and strong partnerships with municipalities, Indigenous communities, and non-profits. Housing is also about mental health and addiction supports. Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home, and I’ll keep fighting to make that a reality across our riding.
Are there any final thoughts on any topic that you would like to share?
This riding isn’t just where I work—it’s where I live, and spend time in the many vibrant communities I’m proud to represent. I’m running because I care deeply about the people here and believe in the incredible potential of Sudbury East–Manitoulin–Nickel Belt.
Whether it’s attracting new industries to create good jobs, advancing clean energy, building affordable homes, or standing up for Indigenous communities—I will always put our region first. From advocating for better broadband access to strengthening health care and driving local economic development, my focus remains firmly on what matters to us.
I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many inspiring people across the riding—people who remind me every day why this work is so important.
Let’s keep moving forward, together.
